NEW to Ride?
We can't wait to meet you!
Come join our community of REAL people
who like to aim high,
and have FUN!
Here's all you need to know...
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE I ARRIVE?
Drink lots of water and be sure that you aren't hungry! A light snack is perfect 30 minutes before your ride!
WHAT TO WEAR?
We recommend active, form fitting pants and a breathable tank top or tee... Plan to sweat!
Our bikes can accomodate both SPD and Delta clips, or you can also ride in your sneakers the first time! We also offer a wide range of Scott and Louis Garneau shoes for demo and purchase in the lobby..... arrive early and let us show you the awesome options! We encourage you to take the shoes for a "spin" a few times before you decide to get your very own!
This is the most important tip! PLEASE arrive at least 20 minutes before your FIRST scheduled class. We do need a bit of time to show you around and to ensure that you are comfortable, safe and knowledgeable before it's go time!
SIGN IN SHEET:
There will be a sign in sheet on the clipboard at the desk - Please make sure to initial next to your name when you arrive for every ride! If you would like to switch bikes please be sure to let a front desk staff know so that we can switch you in the system and you receive your stats ameil after class!
WATER & SNACKS:
A cold sports bottle of water is waiting for you for your first ride! We always have water, coconut water and Kind bars for sale at the front desk for $2/each.
We have lockers in the lounge at the back of the studio to keep your valuables safe while you ride. We would prefer that you keep your cell phone in the lockers as well...Give yourself and your fellow riders the freedom to let go digitally for just 45 minutes and surrender to the now!
BIKE SET UP:
We have staff dedicated to making sure that you are both comfortable and safe at all times. Once you are settled in after your tour, please make sure that you connect with a member of staff to set you up on your bike for the first time.
CLIPPING IN and STRAPPING IN:
If you are wearing regular sneakers we will show you how to ensure that the straps are tight and secure. And if you are wearing indoor cycling shoes we will help you get clipped in every class until you are comfortable doing so on your own - just ask!
We will also familiarize you with the Schwinn Echelon 2 Consoles so that you can get the maximum results from your ride. Your instructor will refer to the POWER, GEAR AND RPM's during class and help you to utilize these numbers to get the most effecient and effective workout possible.
Bike Settings: Our Schwinn Carbon Blue bikes are designed with key adjustment points to ensure that you are both comfortable and safe during every ride! There are 4 adjustments you can make to your bike:
- Seat height
- Seat placement - front to back
- Handlebar height
- Handlebar placement - front to back
RED RESISTANCE KNOB: This is the knob you will use during your entire ride to control the "resistance" on your flywheel and change your gears. This knob is ALSO YOUR SAFETY STOP! If at any point you need to stop your ride - you simoply push down hard on this knob and your feet will immediately stop!
YOU ARE IN CHARGE! It is your instructors job to motivate everyone in the room...the newbies AND the veterans! It is YOUR job to push yourself, BUT also listen to your body! You work at whatever pace works for you, take breaks when you need to, drink lots of water... and know that you will get stronger with every ride!
Ok, you're all set!
Get some rest, and we'll see you soon on a bike!
